My name is Helen Holliday. I am an experienced counsellor offering one-to-one support for young people (12+) and adults. I provide a professional, confidential and caring counselling service.
First Step
Taking the first step and deciding to seek counselling can be difficult. I have a relaxed and friendly approach – if you would like more information or would like to ask me a question about the way I work, I offer a free 30 minute meeting where I will answer any questions you have.
Location and Qualifications
I provide counselling in my private practice which is based in Leck near Kirkby Lonsdale.
I am an individual member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. Being a member of the BACP means that I adhere to the Ethical Framework for Good Practice, offering the highest professional and ethical standards.
Experience
Together with my private practice, I work at two local secondary schools. I also used to work for a local charity run counselling service supporting people with self-harm and eating disorders. I have extensive counselling experience and support young people (aged 12+) and adults with very different backgrounds and challenges including, but not exclusive to: depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties and self-harm.
I am deeply passionate about the potentially transformative power of counselling and enjoy my work immensely.
What is Person- Centred counselling?
It is a supportive form of therapy where you are given the space and safety to share your concerns. Unlike other therapies, person centred counselling is led by the client and what they want to talk about, instead of therapist led.
Person-Centred Counselling is based on the philosophy that individuals are full of potential for growth. Given the right conditions, people are all capable of being loving, creative and knowledgeable.
